Ed King was Fort Lauderdale's first building contractor. He built this home for his family in 1906. After his daughter Louise King Cromartie sold the place in 1968, enterprising preservationists saved it by moving it to its present location in the Old Fort Lauderdale historic district. A vernacular house built out of nowrare Date County Pine, the house provides visitors a fascinating glimpse into the early 1900s when Fort Lauderdale was still a pioneer town.
